Provincial and Territorial team managers were in Winnipeg at the end of April to familiarize themselves with the plans and services that will be available during the 2017 Canada Summer Games.
The Mission Conference brought together approximately 40 Mission Staff delegations from across the country for a week of meetings and updates. It is a critical connection between the Host society to all of the teams, coaches, athletes and parents.
The Chefs de Mission toured several of the venues, as well as accommodations and other facilities, and their visit is considered an important touchpoint in the preparation of the Games. It represents an opportunity to update the Chefs on plans and to hear their feedback, measure progress and communicate about the state of readiness of the Canada Games in Winnipeg in 2017.
“We are moving along nicely in all areas of the organization and are proud to have received consistently positive feedback over the course of a handful of major checkpoints,” remarked Jeff Hnatiuk, President and CEO, 2017 Canada Summer Games Host Society. “With less than 100 days until the Opening Ceremony we can confidently say that we are making significant progress in our preparations to deliver an amazing athlete experience, showcase our city and province, and raise the profile of the Canada Games.”
Several social functions were incorporated into the conference in order showcase our friendly, fun and welcoming nature. There was also time on the agenda set aside for the Canada Games Council and national sponsors to share materials and information.
