David Patterson, Canada Games Council (CGC) President and CEO, has announced that Erin Mathany will become the organization’s Vice President, Marketing and Partnerships. Erin will be responsible for leading the innovative growth of the Canada Games brand, highlighting the stories of the athletes, coaches, volunteers and communities that bring the Games to life while engaging corporate partners in the Canada Games movement.
Erin joins the Council from the Canadian Olympic Committee where she most recently served as the Director of Commercial Affairs and Business Development. In this role, Erin forged a globally recognized, education-based approach to brand protection and worked with numerous marketing and strategic partners to extend the brand and generate revenue toward Olympic sport and athlete development in Canada.
“Erin is a dedicated and proven sport leader who thrives at finding creative solutions” says Patterson. “Her background in extending and protecting brands will serve to benefit the CGC, Canada Games Host Societies and our partners. We are looking forward to seeing her creativity and leadership in action as we prepare for the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer.”
Erin holds a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Brock University and a Master’s of Business Administration from Wilfred Laurier University. She currently sits on the Brock University Alumni Board and has strong ties to the Niagara region, the host for the 2021 Canada Summer Games.
“The Canada Games are the first multi-sport Games experience for many young athletes and I look forward to building the brand and partnerships that bring this unique opportunity to life,” says Mathany. “I care deeply about my community and country and I am honoured to serve alongside this talented team to tell the stories of the next generation of athletes and the communities who support them.”
