Catriona Le May Doan was the fastest woman on ice. After carrying the Canadian flag into the 2002 Olympic Winter Games opening ceremonies (her fourth Olympics), Catriona defended her Olympic title with a Gold medal performance in the 500 metre event. Catriona became the first Canadian individual and only Canadian female to defend a gold medal at any Olympic Games. She held the World Record in the 500m for 10 years and still currently holds the Olympic Record. During her career Catriona broke 13 World Records.

In addition to being a world champion athlete, Catriona is a talented motivational speaker. She is an articulate, engaging and bilingual presenter, exploring with her audiences the method of achieving personal excellence while challenging and motivating people to achieve their full potential. Catriona is actively involved in her community and charity associations including The Saskatoon Foundation Catriona Le May Doan Endowment for Children and Youth. She is a spokesperson for the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of Canada, Right to Play Athlete Ambassador, and Ontario’s Lakefield Oval Project. Catriona was part of CBC sports co-hosting the primetime show “Countdown to Beijing" and the Olympic Games. She was a part of the 2010 Olympic broadcast team and co-host of Olympic morning for the 2012 Olympic Games. Catriona was the Lead, Athlete Mentor for Team Canada for the 2018 Pyeong Chang Olympic Winter Games. She is on the board for Special Olympics Canada and the Calgary 2023 Bid Corporation.  Catriona won a Gemini for Best sport analyst for the 2010 Games and she is currently the CEO of Sport Calgary.

Catriona has received three Honorary Degrees from the University of Calgary, the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina and gave the convocation speech to their graduating classes. Catriona was inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame and the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Sports Hall of Fame and appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.

Catriona lives in Calgary with her two children Greta and Easton.

Fauna is a Chartered Professional Accountant with 15 years of progressive finance experience in the private sector, public sector, auditing firms, and retail industry. She is currently the Chief Financial Officer at Tlicho Investment Corporation and Group of Companies and also serves on the Board of Directors for lndspire, a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to assisting Indigenous youth in pursuit of post-secondary education.

While Fauna has Metis/Cree ancestry, she was immersed in Inuit culture while living in Nunavut for 20 years, where she was a competitive athlete which helped foster her passion for amateur sports, recreation, and volunteerism. Her work has been recognized through numerous prestigious awards including the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for outstanding contribution to Canada in 2002 and the National Aboriginal Achievement Award Youth Recipient in 2005.

Anthony Everett joins the Canada Games Council Board with over 25 years of tourism industry experience beginning with his time at the Butchart Gardens while attending the University of Victoria. He has held positions as manager of travel media relations for Tourism Victoria and account director for Tartan Public Relations, before he accepted the challenge, in 2006, to experience and promote northern British Columbia.

As former Chief Executive Officer of Northern BC Tourism Association (NBCTA) (2006-2015), Anthony steered the NBCTA towards its goals. Currently he is consulting with a wide range of organizations in the not-for-profit sector to help them build their governance and strategic plans. In 2011, Anthony Everett was chosen by the community to be the Board Chair for the Prince George 2015 Canada Winter Games Host Society. He led the formation of the Host Society as it transitioned from a successful bid to a staff driven organization and through the actual 2015 Canada Winter Games in February 2015. Anthony was selected by his peers to be the final torch-bearer to light the Canada Games cauldron on February 13, 2015. He was also the Co-Chair of the Games Ambassadors Group that assisted the Host Society in spreading the message across the province and nation as well as building the northern story of what was the 25th edition of the Canada Games.

Anthony Everett is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his service to the Canada Games movement. He is married, a father and an avid outdoors man and currently lives in Prince George, British Columbia with his wife, Paulina and daughter, Olivia. Anthony’s vast knowledge and experience will be tremendous assets to the Canada Games Council Board of Directors.

Blair McIntosh has joined the Canada Games Council Board of Directors and brings with him over 30 years of Canadian amateur sport experience and an unwavering passion for the Canada Games Movement. Having served as the Chef de Mission for Team Canada at the 2010 Paralympic Games and Chef de Mission for Team Ontario nine times at the Canada Games, Blair has been proven to be an incredible and successful leader and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Canada Games.

Blair’s work and accomplishments have made a positive impact on the amatuer sport landscape in Canada, and he’s been recognized for those achievements by being inducted into the Canada Games Hall of Honour, receiving the Discovery Award for outstanding leadership with the Province of Ontario, as well as the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contribution to the Paralympic movement in Canada. Blair’s impressive professional experience includes serving as the CEO for Sport Alliance of Ontario as well as the Director of Sport Tourism with the City of London. He currently serves as the Vice-President of Sport with Special Olympics Canada and was recently named the Chair of the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance Board of Directors.

Catherine is the Executive Director of Sport with the Canadian Paralympic Committee.  Her work there includes relationships with Canada’s National Sport Organizations, the Canadian Olympic Committee, Own the Podium, government partners and Organizing Committees for the Paralympic Games.  Catherine has been the operational and performance lead for the Paralympic Games in Sochi, Rio, and most recently in PyeongChang. She was named one of the “Five to Watch” under 40 in Canadian sport business by George Brown College.

Cheri has a PhD in Sport Management and has extensive experience in the sport marketing sector. Cheri is currently the Loretta Rogers Research Chair in Sport Marketing at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University and has received numerous academic distinctions, recently winning the Research Recognition Award and the SPMA Service Award. Cheri also plays an active role for Women in Sport, sitting on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) and on the Advisory Board for Women in Sports Tech (WiST).Cheri has also been a Games volunteer, performing the role of Commercial Rights Management Specialist for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Elaine Roper joins the Canada Games Council Board of Directors with over 35 years of experience in the business and corporate fields; notably human capital, organizational development, governance and operations. Her proven business acumen has been demonstrated in roles as an executive, entrepreneur, and consultant in the public, private and not for profit sectors.

Elaine also brings with her a wealth of board experience having served in multiple leadership positions for the Royal Ontario Museum, Bishop’s University, both the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario and Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, and the Textile Museum of Canada. Her deep appreciation of the extraordinary dedication and hard work of coaches and athletes was initially fostered when she worked as a university student during the 1976 Olympics as a receptionist in the athlete’s village.

Many years later, while working for four years with the Toronto 2015 Pan/ParaPan Am Organizing Committee as the Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Volunteers, she experienced first-hand the powerful and lasting impact of the legacy of these multi-sport Games. Her extensive background will prove to be instrumental in continuing the growth of the Canada Games; the nation’s largest multi-sport event for developing athletes.

Judy has been working in the Canadian sport industry for more than three decades as an advocate for athletes and coaches with a disability, women in sport, and Indigenous sport. She is currently a sports and communications consultant for provincial and multi-sport organizations and has extensive  experience with amateur sport organizations including not for profit, government, and University. She currently works as an Event Manager for BC Seniors Games Society and her vast experience in communications and media relations also includes working with Team Canada at the Paralympic Games and Team BC at the Canada Games which she was involved in from 1993-2019. Judy has served on multiple provincial and national boards and is an active board member for the BC Wheelchair Sports Association, sits on the Athlete of the Year Selection Committee for Sport BC, and  is a Nomination Committee member for the Victoria Sports Hall of Fame.

Karen has 15 years of financial experience in the banking industry, a strong background in strategic planning and risk management, and a passion for diversity and inclusion. Currently serving as a Regional Enablement Coach with RBC Royal Bank she has experience leading and participating in initiatives to recruit women in Commercial Banking, partnered with Women of Influence for the RBC Women Entrepreneur Awards, and is working with Ivey Business School to develop diversity and inclusion training for faculty and future MBA cohorts. Karen was born in El Salvador and raised in Edmonton, AB, where she was active in soccer, track and volleyball, before moving to Toronto to work in the finance sector.

Lynn Blouin joins the Canada Games Council Board of Directors with over 30 years of experience in public relations/communications and over 20 years of experience in politics. Her vast knowledge and experience in these fields helped her during her tenure as Deputy CEO of Communications and Human Resources for the 2013 Canada Summer Games Host Society.

As a member of the senior management, Lynn was tasked with the planning, supervising and execution of nine services that were essential to the realization of the Games including Ceremonies and Culture, Linguistic services, Marketing, Host and Protocol, Accreditation and Sustainable Development. Lynn also acted as a key spokesperson of the 2013 Canada Summer Games Host Society. This unique experience as part of the 2013 Host Society coupled with her expertise in tourism and government relations will certainly prove to be an asset to the Canada Games Council Board.

Rick has 25 years of experience in sponsorship marketing, licensing, ticketing, andstrategic partnerships within the Canadian sports industry. He has worked with professional sports teams, Olympic and Paralympic Games, Pan/Parapan American Games, and not-for-profits. He is currently the Co-founder and managing director of UNITE Partnerships Inc. and was also the Vice President, Sponsorship Sales and Partnership Services on the Organizing Committee for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games. His current volunteer activities include serving as a Member of the Board of Directors of viaSport since 2016 and he has been the Vice Chair since 2018.

Since 2005 Sue Boreskie has held the position of Chief Executive Officer with the Manitoba Cardiac Institute (Reh-Fit) Inc., a leading Canadian medical fitness centre dedicated to enhancing community health. The Reh-Fit Cardiac Rehabilitation program, the first of its kind in Canada, has been saving and enhancing the lives of those with heart disease for 40 years. Sue’s administrative and governance involvement in sport are extensive.

In the past, she held several Pan American Games roles including serving on the committee responsible for bringing the Games to Winnipeg. In 1979, Sue was a member of Team Manitoba at the Canada Winter Games. She also worked for many years as an organizer of the Olympic Academy of Canada on behalf of the Canadian Olympic Association, now the Canadian Olympic Committee. She has received national and provincial awards for her volunteer and professional work in sport, fitness, and health, including the University of Manitoba Outreach Award and the YM-YWCA Women of the Year Award. Sue has held senior positions at the University of Manitoba, the Wellness Institute at Seven Oaks Hospital, and the Rose and Max Rady Jewish Community Centre. Sue graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Physical Education and as Master of Physical Education, specializing in exercise physiology.

An accomplished and award-winning sports journalist and CBC storyteller, Teddy Katz is a recognized leader in this field and his passion for communications and Canadian sport is a welcome addition to the Canada Games Council Board of Directors. Having been involved in more than ten Olympics, Paralympics, and most other major games Teddy brings invaluable insight and experience to the Canada Games as well as a skillset and network of connections from the media relations and communications sector across Canada.

Along with an impressive 19-year career in journalism, Teddy also served as the Chief Spokesperson and Director of Media Relations for the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan American Games.  He recently founded his own communications consultancy business called Communications, Redefined. He helps organizations become thought leaders by uncovering and showcasing the stories that humanize them and that are good for business.
