CHAIR | Evan Johnston
Evan is the Chair of the Canada Games Council and currently serves as the Senior Vice President, Chief Legal and Strategy Officer at The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company. He is responsible for legal, strategy, compliance, facilities, customer experience, corporate development, internal audit and corporate secretarial.
Evan holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.), an LLB, a CFA and is currently an MBA candidate at the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. He is passionate about sport at all levels, particularly Canadian amateur sport, and is a three-time Ironman finisher.
Evan started his career as a corporate lawyer practicing early-stage technology and biotechnology law at a small entrepreneurial firm in Vancouver. He left Vancouver looking for more pure finance and international experience after having completed his Chartered Financial Analyst designation and spending two summers at the United Nations in New York City. With those objectives in mind, he accepted a role in the Securitization practice in London, England with Clifford Chance, still the largest international law firm in the world.
Evan left London in 2008 and returned to Canada to join the M&A practice at Blakes in Calgary. He remained there until he was recruited by Sport Chek, a well-known national retailer of sporting goods, to act as its VP, General Counsel. This role aligned to his interest in sport and offered fantastic professional experience over the two years he worked there before the organization was bought out. Evan then moved to a similar position with Stuart Olson, a national commercial and industrial construction company based in Calgary. He remained in that role for five years until joining Wawanesa.
VICE CHair | Catriona Le MAy Doan
Catriona Le May Doan was the fastest woman on ice. After carrying the Canadian flag into the 2002 Olympic Winter Games opening ceremonies (her fourth Olympics), Catriona defended her Olympic title with a Gold medal performance in the 500 metre event. Catriona became the first Canadian individual and only Canadian female to defend a gold medal at any Olympic Games. She held the World Record in the 500m for 10 years and still currently holds the Olympic Record. During her career Catriona broke 13 World Records.
In addition to being a world champion athlete, Catriona is a talented motivational speaker. She is an articulate, engaging and bilingual presenter, exploring with her audiences the method of achieving personal excellence while challenging and motivating people to achieve their full potential. Catriona is actively involved in her community and charity associations including The Saskatoon Foundation Catriona Le May Doan Endowment for Children and Youth. She is a spokesperson for the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of Canada, Right to Play Athlete Ambassador, and Ontario’s Lakefield Oval Project. Catriona was part of CBC sports co-hosting the primetime show “Countdown to Beijing" and the Olympic Games. She was a part of the 2010 Olympic broadcast team and co-host of Olympic morning for the 2012 Olympic Games. Catriona was the Lead, Athlete Mentor for Team Canada for the 2018 Pyeong Chang Olympic Winter Games. She is on the board for Special Olympics Canada and the Calgary 2023 Bid Corporation. Catriona won a Gemini for Best sport analyst for the 2010 Games and she is currently the CEO of Sport Calgary.
Catriona has received three Honorary Degrees from the University of Calgary, the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina and gave the convocation speech to their graduating classes. Catriona was inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame and the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Sports Hall of Fame and appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.
Catriona lives in Calgary with her two children Greta and Easton.
Treasurer | Fauna Kingdon
Fauna is a Chartered Professional Accountant with 15 years of progressive finance experience in the private sector, public sector, auditing firms, and retail industry. She is currently the Chief Financial Officer at Tlicho Investment Corporation and Group of Companies and also serves on the Board of Directors for lndspire, a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to assisting Indigenous youth in pursuit of post-secondary education.
While Fauna has Metis/Cree ancestry, she was immersed in Inuit culture while living in Nunavut for 20 years, where she was a competitive athlete which helped foster her passion for amateur sports, recreation, and volunteerism. Her work has been recognized through numerous prestigious awards including the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for outstanding contribution to Canada in 2002 and the National Aboriginal Achievement Award Youth Recipient in 2005.

Anthony Everett
Anthony Everett joins the Canada Games Council Board with over 25 years of tourism industry experience beginning with his time at the Butchart Gardens while attending the University of Victoria. He has held positions as manager of travel media relations for Tourism Victoria and account director for Tartan Public Relations, before he accepted the challenge, in 2006, to experience and promote northern British Columbia.
As former Chief Executive Officer of Northern BC Tourism Association (NBCTA) (2006-2015), Anthony steered the NBCTA towards its goals. Currently he is consulting with a wide range of organizations in the not-for-profit sector to help them build their governance and strategic plans. In 2011, Anthony Everett was chosen by the community to be the Board Chair for the Prince George 2015 Canada Winter Games Host Society. He led the formation of the Host Society as it transitioned from a successful bid to a staff driven organization and through the actual 2015 Canada Winter Games in February 2015. Anthony was selected by his peers to be the final torch-bearer to light the Canada Games cauldron on February 13, 2015. He was also the Co-Chair of the Games Ambassadors Group that assisted the Host Society in spreading the message across the province and nation as well as building the northern story of what was the 25th edition of the Canada Games.
Anthony Everett is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his service to the Canada Games movement. He is married, a father and an avid outdoors man and currently lives in Prince George, British Columbia with his wife, Paulina and daughter, Olivia. Anthony’s vast knowledge and experience will be tremendous assets to the Canada Games Council Board of Directors.
Blair McIntosh
Blair McIntosh has joined the Canada Games Council Board of Directors and brings with him over 30 years of Canadian amateur sport experience and an unwavering passion for the Canada Games Movement. Having served as the Chef de Mission for Team Canada at the 2010 Paralympic Games and Chef de Mission for Team Ontario nine times at the Canada Games, Blair has been proven to be an incredible and successful leader and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Canada Games.
Blair’s work and accomplishments have made a positive impact on the amatuer sport landscape in Canada, and he’s been recognized for those achievements by being inducted into the Canada Games Hall of Honour, receiving the Discovery Award for outstanding leadership with the Province of Ontario, as well as the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contribution to the Paralympic movement in Canada. Blair’s impressive professional experience includes serving as the CEO for Sport Alliance of Ontario as well as the Director of Sport Tourism with the City of London. He currently serves as the Vice-President of Sport with Special Olympics Canada and was recently named the Chair of the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance Board of Directors.
Catherine Gosselin-Despres
Catherine is the Executive Director of Sport with the Canadian Paralympic Committee. Her work there includes relationships with Canada’s National Sport Organizations, the Canadian Olympic Committee, Own the Podium, government partners and Organizing Committees for the Paralympic Games. Catherine has been the operational and performance lead for the Paralympic Games in Sochi, Rio, and most recently in PyeongChang. She was named one of the “Five to Watch” under 40 in Canadian sport business by George Brown College.
Cheri BRadish
Cheri has a PhD in Sport Management and has extensive experience in the sport marketing sector. Cheri is currently the Loretta Rogers Research Chair in Sport Marketing at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University and has received numerous academic distinctions, recently winning the Research Recognition Award and the SPMA Service Award. Cheri also plays an active role for Women in Sport, sitting on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) and on the Advisory Board for Women in Sports Tech (WiST).Cheri has also been a Games volunteer, performing the role of Commercial Rights Management Specialist for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Elaine ROper
Elaine Roper joins the Canada Games Council Board of Directors with over 35 years of experience in the business and corporate fields; notably human capital, organizational development, governance and operations. Her proven business acumen has been demonstrated in roles as an executive, entrepreneur, and consultant in the public, private and not for profit sectors.
Elaine also brings with her a wealth of board experience having served in multiple leadership positions for the Royal Ontario Museum, Bishop’s University, both the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario and Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, and the Textile Museum of Canada. Her deep appreciation of the extraordinary dedication and hard work of coaches and athletes was initially fostered when she worked as a university student during the 1976 Olympics as a receptionist in the athlete’s village.
Many years later, while working for four years with the Toronto 2015 Pan/ParaPan Am Organizing Committee as the Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Volunteers, she experienced first-hand the powerful and lasting impact of the legacy of these multi-sport Games. Her extensive background will prove to be instrumental in continuing the growth of the Canada Games; the nation’s largest multi-sport event for developing athletes.
Judy Joseph-Black
Judy has been working in the Canadian sport industry for more than three decades as an advocate for athletes and coaches with a disability, women in sport, and Indigenous sport. She is currently a sports and communications consultant for provincial and multi-sport organizations and has extensive experience with amateur sport organizations including not for profit, government, and University. She currently works as an Event Manager for BC Seniors Games Society and her vast experience in communications and media relations also includes working with Team Canada at the Paralympic Games and Team BC at the Canada Games which she was involved in from 1993-2019. Judy has served on multiple provincial and national boards and is an active board member for the BC Wheelchair Sports Association, sits on the Athlete of the Year Selection Committee for Sport BC, and is a Nomination Committee member for the Victoria Sports Hall of Fame.
Karen Menjivar
Karen has 15 years of financial experience in the banking industry, a strong background in strategic planning and risk management, and a passion for diversity and inclusion. Currently serving as a Regional Enablement Coach with RBC Royal Bank she has experience leading and participating in initiatives to recruit women in Commercial Banking, partnered with Women of Influence for the RBC Women Entrepreneur Awards, and is working with Ivey Business School to develop diversity and inclusion training for faculty and future MBA cohorts. Karen was born in El Salvador and raised in Edmonton, AB, where she was active in soccer, track and volleyball, before moving to Toronto to work in the finance sector.
Lynn Blouin
Lynn Blouin joins the Canada Games Council Board of Directors with over 30 years of experience in public relations/communications and over 20 years of experience in politics. Her vast knowledge and experience in these fields helped her during her tenure as Deputy CEO of Communications and Human Resources for the 2013 Canada Summer Games Host Society.
As a member of the senior management, Lynn was tasked with the planning, supervising and execution of nine services that were essential to the realization of the Games including Ceremonies and Culture, Linguistic services, Marketing, Host and Protocol, Accreditation and Sustainable Development. Lynn also acted as a key spokesperson of the 2013 Canada Summer Games Host Society. This unique experience as part of the 2013 Host Society coupled with her expertise in tourism and government relations will certainly prove to be an asset to the Canada Games Council Board.
Rick Ramsbottom
Rick has 25 years of experience in sponsorship marketing, licensing, ticketing, andstrategic partnerships within the Canadian sports industry. He has worked with professional sports teams, Olympic and Paralympic Games, Pan/Parapan American Games, and not-for-profits. He is currently the Co-founder and managing director of UNITE Partnerships Inc. and was also the Vice President, Sponsorship Sales and Partnership Services on the Organizing Committee for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games. His current volunteer activities include serving as a Member of the Board of Directors of viaSport since 2016 and he has been the Vice Chair since 2018.
Sue BoreSkie
Since 2005 Sue Boreskie has held the position of Chief Executive Officer with the Manitoba Cardiac Institute (Reh-Fit) Inc., a leading Canadian medical fitness centre dedicated to enhancing community health. The Reh-Fit Cardiac Rehabilitation program, the first of its kind in Canada, has been saving and enhancing the lives of those with heart disease for 40 years. Sue’s administrative and governance involvement in sport are extensive.
In the past, she held several Pan American Games roles including serving on the committee responsible for bringing the Games to Winnipeg. In 1979, Sue was a member of Team Manitoba at the Canada Winter Games. She also worked for many years as an organizer of the Olympic Academy of Canada on behalf of the Canadian Olympic Association, now the Canadian Olympic Committee. She has received national and provincial awards for her volunteer and professional work in sport, fitness, and health, including the University of Manitoba Outreach Award and the YM-YWCA Women of the Year Award. Sue has held senior positions at the University of Manitoba, the Wellness Institute at Seven Oaks Hospital, and the Rose and Max Rady Jewish Community Centre. Sue graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Physical Education and as Master of Physical Education, specializing in exercise physiology.
Teddy Katz
An accomplished and award-winning sports journalist and CBC storyteller, Teddy Katz is a recognized leader in this field and his passion for communications and Canadian sport is a welcome addition to the Canada Games Council Board of Directors. Having been involved in more than ten Olympics, Paralympics, and most other major games Teddy brings invaluable insight and experience to the Canada Games as well as a skillset and network of connections from the media relations and communications sector across Canada.
Along with an impressive 19-year career in journalism, Teddy also served as the Chief Spokesperson and Director of Media Relations for the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan American Games. He recently founded his own communications consultancy business called Communications, Redefined. He helps organizations become thought leaders by uncovering and showcasing the stories that humanize them and that are good for business.

The Sport Committee is responsible for all technical areas of the Games including facility standards, eligibility, technical rules and regulations, sport selection, officials and a variety of other issues related to the staging of the competitions.

President and Ceo | Dan wilcock
Dan is a lawyer by background and joined the Canada Games Council after serving in a number of executive roles in the Government of Canada, in areas including competition law, marketing law, environmental policy, and international relations. He also has a Bachelor of Commerce degree and has developed French language abilities while living and working in the Ottawa-Gatineau region after moving to Canada from Australia in 2007.
Dan has experience in high-level sport as a competitor, coach and organizer in snowboarding, which he helped develop in Australia and the US, and has participated in almost every sport on the Canada Games program. Dan lives with his family near the banks of the Ottawa River and loves to be outside and active with his wife and two children as often as possible.

Karen is the Canada Games Council’s Manager of Corporate Services. In this role, Karen manages the Council`s governance, human resource, government relations and administration activities to ensure smooth and efficient corporate operations. Karen joined the Council in 2012 in her current role after having worked for the Canadian Paralympic Committee for 12 years as a Senior Coordinator for Special Events & Projects.
She also held the position of Program Officer at Sport Canada for 3 years.Karen enjoys a variety of sports and activities including baseball, ball hockey and running. Karen grew up in rural eastern Ontario, and currently resides in Long Sault with her husband Kevin, 3 sons Dryden, Nicholas and Kade and has 3 step-children Adam, Michael and Abby.

Senior Vice-President, host relations | Kelly-Ann Paul
Kelly-Ann is the Canada Games Council’s Senior Vice President of Games Delivery. In her time with the CGC, Kelly-Ann has been the Lead in the Sport Program and NSO Relations, and through the recent strategic plan’s direction, has shaped the Council’s Leadership to Host Societies through the refinement of its Games Life Cycle. Kelly-Ann joined the Council in 2004 as the Administrative/Information Coordinator after completing a summer contract with Sport Canada.
She has also held several contracts between 2002-2004 with Sport Canada (Junior Program Officer), Ontario Summer Games Volunteer (Sport (Rugby) & Venue (Twin Elm Rugby Park) Volunteer, 2006 & 2008), and various other volunteer and community-related engagements activities.Kelly-Ann is a graduate of Queen’s University with a double degree, Honours Bachelor of Science and Physical and Health Education. She also attained a Minor in French Studies.A multi-sport athlete, Kelly-Ann participated in competitive rugby (OUA all-star n 2004), cross country running, and athletics (sprinting). She continues to maintain an active lifestyle.
Senior Advisor, Host relations | Scott ring
As Senior Advisor, Host Relations, Scott will be responsible to execute the early phases of the Canada Games Life Cycle including leadership and collaboration with host governments, Bid & Evaluation Committees, and Host Societies for the Games life cycles 1-5 and 9.
Scott joined the CGC following his time at U SPORTS; most recently in the capacity of Manager, Sport Technical and National Championships. Scott has demonstrated much success in the planning and execution of various multi-sport events, the development and execution of the bid process, as well as developing strong relationships with stakeholders affiliated to these events. He's also had the opportunity to participate as Mission Staff during the 2019 Napoli Summer Universiade. Scott brings with him a wealth of knowledge and a positive attitude. He is a dynamic, professional, and bilingual sport enthusiast who played basketball for Bishop's University. During that time, Scott volunteered within the Athlete Services function from the 2013 Canada Games in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
COORDINATOR, host relations | AMélie Proulx
Amélie has recently completed her graduate studies in the Sport Business Management Program at Algonquin College. She previously studied at the University of Ottawa and obtained her B.Sc.Human Kinetics last June. Although she participates in a great variety of sports including soccer, volleyball, and dragon boat racing, she has been involved in synchronized swimming for over 17 years.
She swam for the Gloucester Synchronized Swimming Club for 12 years and for the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees for 5 years. Along with her position at the Canada Games Council, she is a coach in the competitive program for the Go Capital Synchro Club. On weekends, she loves spending time at her family cottage and enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking and wakeboarding. Amélie is the primary operational and administrative contact for our office operations and will provide administrative support to all departments.
MANAGER, TRANSPORTATION SERVICES | SHELLEY FLEMING
As Manager of Transportation Services, Shelley is responsible for all organizational and technical matters associated with the transportation of all Provincial/Territorial (P/T) Teams and their related equipment, as well as for Major Technical Officials and Sponsored Medical Personnel, to and from the Canada Games. To achieve this, Shelley must balance a close working relationship with Sport Canada in the management of their Contribution Agreement, with the Travel Services Provider in the provision of travel for all participants, with P/T Teams in the implementation of travel logistics and with Host Societies in the development and execution of transportation operational plans.
Shelley’s extensive background in event logistics include management of accreditation program for the 2015 Toronto Pan Am / Para Pan Am Games, management of logistics for numerous overseas exercises with the Canadian Forces College, management of event logistics for Veterans Affairs Canada overseas commemorations and event management with Skate Canada.
Shelley, who is fluently bilingual, is a graduate of La Cité Collégiale with a certificate in Business Administration and Marketing. She also completed a Certificate in Meeting Management (CMM) in 2012.
Shelley’s only sport claim is riding a bike…..preferably on flat surfaces!

Vice President, Marketing and Partnerships | Erin Mathany
Erin Mathany is the Vice President, Marketing and Partnerships for the Canada Games Council where she is building on 50 years and 100,000 alumni of history to grow the Canada Games brand and engage partners. She previously spent 10 years working within the Olympic Movement at the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, specializing in commercial rights management, business development, and strategic partnerships. Erin holds a Bachelor of Sport Management from Brock University and a MBA from Wilfred Laurier University and is currently Chair of the Brock University Alumni Association.
COORDINATOR, MARKETING | PAT WERT
Pat is the Canada Games Council’s Coordinator of Marketing. In conjunction with the Vice President of Marketing & Partnerships, he works to elevate the overall brand recognition and awareness of the Canada Games across the country. Pat joined the Council initially as a student intern in the summer of 2013, and then was recently awarded another opportunity to work for the CGC once he graduated from Royal Roads University (Victoria, B.C.) and moved back to Ontario in 2014. Along with a BA in Professional Communications from Royal Roads, he is also a graduate of the Algonquin College Public Relations program (Ottawa campus). Born and raised in Avonmore, Ontario, Pat grew up on his family’s dairy farm and was a multi-sport athlete in baseball, hockey, and volleyball.

VICE PRESIDENT, SPORT | AAron Bruce
Aaron is the Canada Games Council’s Vice President of Sport. In this role, Aaron plays a major role in helping to shape the sport program for the Canada Games property.
Aaron joined the Council in 2010 as a Sport & Games Coordinator after three years with Squash Canada as their High Performance Coordinator. He has also held positions with the Canadian Olympic Committee (Games Assistant), Ontario Summer Games (Volunteer Protocol Manager for 2006 Games in Ottawa), and the University of Ottawa’s Athletic Department (Competitive Clubs Administrator).
Aaron is a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a Honours Bachelor of Science (Kinesiology) degree and the University of Ottawa with a Master of Arts Degree in Sport and Physical Activity Administration.
A multi-sport athlete, Aaron played competitive hockey, golf, badminton and volleyball growing up and continues to compete in golf and squash.
Aaron was born and raised in St.Thomas Ontario and now resides in Ottawa with his wife Mary and son Simon.
Coordinator, Games Services | Jacob McInnis
Jacob is a Coordinator of Games Services with the Canada Games Council. In this position, Jacob plays a role in helping to shape the sport program for the Canada Games property, while also helping to deliver the Council's Transfer of Knowledge program to current and future Host Societies. Jacob joined the Council in 2012 in his current role as a Sport & Games Coordinator after previously working with the 2009 Canada Games Host Society and the Whitehorse 2012 Arctic Winter Games Host Society. He has also held positions with the 2010 G8/G20 Summits Management Office, 2009 Canadian Ringette Championships and the 2008 World Sledge Hockey Challenge. Jacob holds a Bachelor of Sport Management from Brock University.Jacob was born in Winnipeg, MB; raised in London, ON and currently resides in Ottawa, ON with his wife Natalie.
Coordinator, SPORT SERVICES | Kali MacAdam
Kali joined the CGC in 2015 after graduating from St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics. She previously interned with the Council in the summer of 2013. A Canada Games alumna who won Gold with Team Ontario ringette at the Halifax 2011 Canada Winter Games, Kali has experienced the Canada Games in a number of different capacities, including athlete, spectator, intern, and CGC staff member.
Kali has had a passion for sport since a young age. She grew up playing a variety of sports, including competitive soccer and ringette. She continues to play recreational soccer and softball, as well as ringette for the Ottawa Ice in the National Ringette League. She has volunteered and worked with local ringette associations and sports camps, and has run skills clinics and physical education programs for kids. Born and raised in Ottawa, Kali attended university in Nova Scotia and Australia before moving back to her hometown.
