Carla Qualtrough has been appointed as the New Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities. The Canada Games Council (CGC) congratulates Ms. Qualtrough on her appointment and look forward to working with her in the leadup to the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.
“On behalf of the Canada Games Council, I would like to give a heartfelt congratulations to Carla Qualtrough on being appointed as Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities,” said Tom Quinn, Canada Games Council Chairman. “Ms. Qualtrough has such an impressive background and understanding of Sport in this country through her tireless volunteer work and being that she is a multi-time Paralympian and three-time Paralympic medallist. She certainly brings a unique perspective to the position and we know she will thrive in her new role.”
In 2017, the Canada Games will celebrate its 50th anniversary in the centre of the nation, Winnipeg, Manitoba. The convergence of the 50th anniversary of the Canada Games with the 150th anniversary of Confederation have resulted in the Canada Games having already been marked by Canadian Heritage as a key nation-building milestone.
The CGC looks forward to continuing work and discussions with the Federal Government as we continue preparations towards the Canada Games 50 –150 Celebration and Commemoration project.
