CHAIR OF THE CANADA GAMES COUNCIL FROM 2009 TO 2019, TOM QUINN’S ACHIEVEMENTS STARTED ON THE BADMINTON COURT AND CONTINUE IN THE BOARDROOM.
A top badminton player, Tom was ranked in the top five in Canada and participated eight times in the Canadian Open Championships between 1976 and 1985. He was inducted into the Quebec Badminton Hall of Fame in 2021.
After his career as an athlete, he volunteered in the sports world. For over 30 years, many Quebec and Canadian organizations have benefited from his immense leadership and management skills. Under his leadership, the Canada Games grew significantly both in size and economically. Tom brought to the Canada Games a keen understanding of how to build interest in sport, fundraising, and selling corporate sponsorships.
An excellent businessman, Tom spent 36 years with Sports Experts and then the Forzani Group (FGL Sports), including 10 years as President and Chief Operating Officer of FGL Sports. He is now the head of the QSM Group, which manages investments in the retail sector in Canada and the United States.
For his extraordinary contribution to Canadian athletic vitality and his achievements as a business leader, Tom was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2016.
