Congratulations to our President and CEO Sue Hylland on being named to the 2015 CAAWS list of most influential women!

CAAWS made the announcement on Thursday, January 21st, and revealed that Canada Games alumni Chandra Crawford and Hailey Wickenheiser also made the list.

Sue Hylland is in her 14th year as the President and CEO of the Canada Games Council. In her esteemed position, she is responsible for the overall management of 4-6 Canada Games at any given moment, giving her a massive portfolio that she manages as a true professional and with the respect of her colleagues and peers.

In February 2015, the 25th edition of the Canada Games were celebrated in Prince George, B.C. Through the collaborative efforts with the Host Society and Council staff, Hylland led a transfer of knowledge program where many new best practices were established for future Games. Through the great efforts of the Host Society, many partners and stakeholders, the 2015 Games enjoyed an economic impact of $123 million, recognition through numerous awards, while also leaving many lasting legacies for Sport in the community.

Throughout 2015, Hylland also led the Council team in transfer of knowledge work for the Canada Games in 2017 (Winnipeg), 2019 (Red Deer), 2021 (Ontario) and 2023 (NWT).

She was also an integral part of a Leadership Team positioning the 50th anniversary of the Canada Games in Winnipeg as a Signature Event to celebrate Canada's 150th of Confederation in 2017. The project was recently selected to advance through the next phase of the Signature Event Process.

Over her 33 year career in sport, Hylland most enjoys watching the many young women and men who she has had the pleasure to work with, grow through sport. She is a strong advocate for providing equal opportunity for women and men in the Canada Games Council, as well as within the Canada Games themselves.
