My name is Zachary Adams and this year I hope to compete in the 2017 Canada Games!
The sport I compete in is Canoe Kayak. I have been kayaking for six years since I was twelve. I qualified for the Canada Games by racing my teammates at Winnipeg Canoe Kayak Center. My training regiments consist of hard hours on the water practicing technique, resistance training and weight and cardio training.
At these games I hope to go for the gold or win a race with my team in the four person kayak or two person. It’s kind of funny with my sport because we're really a tight-knit community. We're all friends but have a semi-aggressive side when it comes to racing.
Since the Games are in Winnipeg and hosted at my club I will have the upper hand. Our team is making great progress at developing the race course and venue itself. Some challenges I have with preparing for the Games is maintaining my weight and keeping healthy for the next two months. My team and I work hard to keep in sync with each other in the team boats so we can win in our home town!
My team and I want to make it the best Games and represent our Province well as we work towards one day competing at the Olympics.
